Lunch features as track 2 on Billie Eilish’s critically-acclaimed 2024 album Hit Me Hard And Soft, released 17 May 2024 via Interscope / Polydor.
The album release marked Billie Eilish's first full-length record in three years, arriving without being preceded by single releases.
Lunch was one of three songs Billie debuted instead in a surprise DJ set at Coachella in April 2024. Written by Billie and produced by her brother and long-time collaborator Finneas O’Connell.
Sonically, a stand-out “pop” moment on Billie’s otherwise subtle and eerie album, Lunch’s lyrics explore themes of queerness and sexuality. Billie sings: I could eat that girl for lunch / Yeah, she dances on my tongue / Tastes like she might be the one / And I can never get enough / I could buy her so much stuff / It's a craving, not a crush.
